Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28th, 1952) is an American stage actor and TV actress. She received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also well-known for her performance as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica and as President's wife on Independence Day and for her leading part in Donnie Darko as the title protagonist's mother.
